In preparation for a raid on theenemy's lines he carried out several patrols, and the accurate informationwhich he obtained contributed very largely to the success of the operation.He led his men in the raid with, great skill and determination, and rushed an enemy post which offered strong opposition, with the result that six of the enemywere killed and two prisoners were captured. He showed splendid initiative and coolness.
