Renovation of Concert room in memory of Mr & Mrs Rhodes

Dear friends, I wanted to share with you a project that the School is launching in memory of the late Dick and Anne Rhodes who died at the start of last year. I am sure that so many of you have fond memories of Mr Rhodes who served at HCS during a 34-year tenure from 1966 to 2000 with his roles including Head of Classics and housemaster of the Old Deanery. In fact, as I write this letter in my study, I am doing so from what was once the Rhodes’ living room! Mrs Rhodes was a teacher in the Prep School, which then became Hereford Cathedral Junior School, retiring in 2007. Both were greatly loved by many generations of Herefordians. Mr Rhodes was also the Director of the Gilbert Consort and music was such an integral part of his life. To commemorate this, we are hoping to raise funds to renovate the concert room in the Music Schools and rename it in his memory. Any amount that you are able to give would be greatly appreciated and very generous of you.
